If you want to catch up on your NPGL facts and figures before the playoffs begin tonight then watch these two videos to find out how each of the four teams earned their spot in championship week…
The San Francisco Fire and the Phoenix Rise have what could be considered the most intense rivalry in GRID.
In 2015, the San Francisco Fire brought in new talent, both at the top and on the roster. While the Phoenix Rise stuck with the coach and core performers who took them to the 2014 semifinals.
The two teams met in the 2015 season opener. The Fire shocked the Rise to come back from a 5-point deficit and showed fans that in GRID, no lead is safe.
Watch the full video to see how both teams progressed through the season and got to this point — clashing in the Western Conference Final, one match away from the 2015 NPGL Final.
The Western Conference Final, at 7 p.m. PT/10 p.m. ET on Wednesday, will stream live on GRID TV.
The match will air on NBC Sports Network from 10 p.m.-12 a.m. ET on September 25.
In 2015, the DC Brawlers added strength and skill to their roster as the Boston Iron looked for redemption after a winless 2014.
They faced off in the first match of the year, DC dominated and Boston was steamrolled. But Boston came back swinging, winning their next two matches.
Later in the seasons, DC was tested and nearly upset by the New York Rhinos, but the Brawlers have yet to lose a match in two seasons.
Don’t miss the Eastern Conference Final, where GRID fans will find out if anyone can beat the champs.
The Eastern Conference Final, at 7 p.m. PT/10 p.m. ET on Thursday, will stream live on GRID TV.
GRID is the world’s first professional spectator sport with two co-ed teams racing head-to-head in a two-hour match. It incorporates speed, skill and strategy in a test of endurance through a variety of weightlifting and body-weight elements. Each two-hour match features two 14-person teams (7 women, 7 men, one of each being over 40 years old) going head-to-head in 11 races. GRID has eight NPGL teams: Los Angeles Reign, New York Rhinos, Boston Iron, DC Brawlers, Phoenix Rise, Miami Surge, San Francisco Fire and Baltimore Anthem.
